Lens clarifies its V2. Launched in May 2022, Lens is a decentralized social network developed by Aave on the Polygon blockchain. On the occasion of theETHCC 6the platform unveiled the details of version 2 of the social network.
Lens gives more details on its V2
The protocol Lens presents itself as a « social graph web 3. Indeed, the protocol’s ambition is to enable content creators to own the links between themselves and their community, thus creating a social graph owned by the user.
Initially, the modularity was placed at the heart of the project. As a result, the protocol was launched without user interfaceproviding only the basic layer needed to create a social network. Since then, numerous applications using the protocol have emerged, such as Lenster, Orb or Buttrfly.
On July 17, a little more than a year after its launch, the Lens teams unveiled their plans for the new version 2 of the protocol.

In parallel with the announcement, the Lens protocol has reopened registrations, setting up a waiting list :
« We encourage you to be among the first to get a Lens profile by joining our waiting list. Once Lens v2 is on the mainnet, we’ll gradually integrate new profiles, based on the web 3 and social media footprint. »

Profiles redesigned for new network version
Of course, this new version brings its share of evolutions. To begin with, Lens v2 introduces a new code versioncompletely rewritten, refactored and optimized.
User profiles have also been reworked. The protocol introduces « v2 profiles. The latter introduce an important layer of composabilitywhich provides support between the profiles and the standard ERC-6551. As a reminder, this standard enables an NFT to have its own social profile, follow other NFTs, publish content and create its own value chain. As a result, the profile is no longer linked to the user’s address, but to his or her NFT.
In addition, profiles can be managed via a dedicated profile manager:
« The new Profile Manager functionality allows Lens profiles to delegate social actions to a different portfolio. This improves the security level of Lens profiles, allowing users to store their profile directly on hardware wallets and use them with any other wallet. »
Enhanced interactions on Lens
V2 also introduces new interactions possible on platforms using Lens.
On the one hand, v2 introduces the publications cited. Like retweets, these allow you to quote a third-party publication and add your own commentary.
On the other hand, v2 introduces the ability to block other users. In this way, blocked profiles will no longer be able to interact with the user who blocked them.
These are just some of the features that enable Lens to compete more and more with the giants of social networking.
For its part, the Aave finalized the launch of its own stablecoin. Indeed, the community voted unanimously for the launch of GHO on the Ethereum mainnet.
