Fake ICOs but real crimes. The israeli police has just completed a two-year investigation and handed over the entire indictment file for Moshe Hogeg. Despite the gesticulations of his lawyers, the facts are stubborn and the evidence is overwhelming against this multi-faceted businessman, who at the time rubbed shoulders with the cream of the French jet-set whose name even came up in the Celsius case. The long list of charges against him heralds a complicated trial for the former owner of Beitar Jerusalem soccer club, who will have to explain, among other things, the fake ICOs from 2017 and 2018, as well as other, much more serious events. Sex, soccer, millions of dollars, political scandal and crypto, a behind-the-scenes look at a resolutely out of the ordinary.

A sulphurous man at the center of a multi-faceted affair

On the Wikipedia page of Moshe Hogegthe focus is on arrests, crimes, setting up fraudulent companies and even prostitution, if not outright human trafficking. So much for the gentleman’s pedigree. And if we are to believe the first elements of the file that the police handed over to the prosecutor’s office, it seems that all the charges is documented. Of course, the presumption of innocence The presumption of innocence must prevail pending a court decision, but the case is not looking good for the former owner of a Jerusalem soccer club.

Let’s try to get to the bottom of it, thanks to two years of investigations, the 180 testimonies, dozens of searches and 900 mostly incriminating evidence. For this, we return to 2017, when the ICO boom is turning the heads of the fledgling crypto ecosystem. Not always serious projects raise millions of dollars in the blink of an eye, and our hero of the day is said to have let himself get carried away by the atmosphere. With other unidentified associates, he would have collected million dollars from Israeli and international investors to supposedly fund four crypto projects, but he allegedly ended up using them for personal purposes. Police quote the figure of 290 million of dollars.

Fraud, theft, money laundering, crypto scams, sex crimes: Moshe Hogeg has (almost) done it all

The Mexican billionaire’s names Carlos Slim and actor Leonardo DiCaprio appear in the file as victims of Moshe Hogeg who allegedly financed the famous crypto projects. But he didn’t limit himself to crypto and start-ups linked to new technologies would also have been used to raise funds qnever used as intended. The police suspect him, for example, of having bought the Beitar Jerusalem with this money. But much more seriously, the file also mentions the facts ofsexual assaults against several women.

Finally, the list of charges is impressive, as the businessman could be charged with fraudof flightfrom bleaching money laundering fakeby tax crimes and prosecutors will have to take a stand on charges of sex crimes. The defendant’s defense team immediately reacted to the publication of this information and wished to put the importance of the facts in perspective:

« We are convinced that after the public prosecutor’s office has examined the case, it will become clear that things are completely different from everything we have been reading for years, which has caused Moshe Hogeg a great deal of harm. »

Obviously, we have to trust the israeli justice to sort out the true from the false, but the national press is already making a big fuss about an affair that is shrouding the highest levels of the Hebrew state’s political apparatus. The former mayor of the capital, Nir Barkatwas involved in finalizing the agreement to sell the soccer club for 7 million dollars. The man who has since become Minister of the Economy in the current government, is said to have hosted a meeting at his home with Moshe Hogeg and other protagonists in the case. As we told you, this story, with its whiff of scandal has all the ingredients of a hit series that ends up on Netflix… or in a suitcase in little pieces.
